Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-09-25. This policy covers jamesdavisproxy.com, the personal website of James Davis ("we", "us"), and its text messaging program.

What we collect

If you sign up for texts: the name you type, your mobile number, the time you signed up, the network address and browser you signed up from, and which version of this policy you agreed to. We keep this as the record of your consent.
If you text us: your number, the message, and when it arrived.
If you have an account for the private part of the site: your username, a hashed password, sign-in times, and a session cookie while you are signed in.

Visiting the public pages collects nothing. We do not use analytics, advertising trackers, or third-party cookies. The only cookie is the session cookie for people who sign in.

Text messages

If you sign up, you get automated texts from (719) 881-8768 under the program name James Davis Home Hub notifications: a sign-up confirmation, alerts and status updates from the home system, and replies to commands you text it. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Consent to receive texts is collected only through the sign-up form on our homepage, or by you texting START to our number; it is used only for this program and is never shared, sold or transferred to anyone else.

How we use it

To send the texts you signed up for, and to reply to yours.
To keep a record that you consented, and to honour it when you opt out.
To run the site: sign people in and block abuse.

Who it is shared with

Your phone number and messages pass through Twilio, the telecoms provider that delivers our texts, and the site runs on a server hosted by DigitalOcean. Both act on our instructions to provide the service.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All categories of information above exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties, except as needed to deliver the messages you asked for or where the law requires it.

We do not sell any personal information.

How long we keep it

Consent records: while you are opted in, and for twelve months after you opt out, as proof of your consent and your opt-out.
Messages you send: ninety days.

Your choices

Stop the texts: reply STOP to any message. One confirmation follows, then nothing.
Delete your number and messages: ask us at james.davis.proxy@gmail.com. We will remove them, keeping only what is needed to honour your opt-out.
See what we hold about you: ask us at james.davis.proxy@gmail.com.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS only. Passwords are stored hashed. Credentials are kept out of the code and the web root. The server is a single small machine maintained by one person; we take reasonable care, but no system is perfectly secure.

Children

This site and the messaging program are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top changes when we do, and consent records note which version was agreed to.
